KIRK SOHONAGE, MANAGING partner

Kirk Sohonage received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his law degree from the University of Denver, College of Law. Kirk is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania Courts, the United States Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Kirk has over twenty years of experience in the courtrooms of Pennsylvania, as well as having practiced in 23 other states. Utilizing skills obtained as a Domestic Violence Prosecutor, Kirk focuses his practice on Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursements, Medicaid Applications & Appeals, Fiduciary Matters, Estate Planning, Trusts, Annuities, Elder Issues, Guardianships, and general civil litigation. Over the past two decades, Kirk has helped his clients recover millions of dollars worth of payments.

Using outside-the-box approaches Kirk has won major cases for his skilled nursing and individual clients, including setting Pennsylvania case law against a ne’er-do-well son improperly using his mother’s resources, under the filial support statute.  See HCR ManorCare v. Kirk has also acted as solicitor to the Cumberland County Orphans’ Court and Prothonotary for more than twenty collective years, where he has gained unmatched insight and experience into the procedure and practice before Pennsylvania’s Orphans’ and Civil Courts.

Amy Freed, Partner

Amy Freed received her undergraduate degree from Villanova University and her law degree from the Dickinson School of Law. She is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania Courts.

Prior to joining SOHO Legal, Amy worked as a prosecutor in the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office focusing on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault matters. She went on to prosecute in the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, advocating for Pennsylvanians who had been denied health insurance coverage. In that role she negotiated with large health insurers, settled group benefit disputes, and investigated illegal healthcare practices.

Amy puts her advocacy and prosecutorial experience to use by helping nursing facilities and individuals navigate the confusing and often misleading Medicaid landscape. She works hard to help her clients access healthcare benefits and recover third-party, governmental or private payments.

Christine D. Consiglio, PARTNER

Christine DeMichele Consiglio is a graduate of the University of Scranton and the​ ​University of Pittsburgh School of Law and is licensed to practice law in all Pennsylvania Courts, the United States Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before joining SOHO, Christine worked with a large regional law firm and later a boutique law firm, where she pursued the delivery of healthcare services for individuals residing in long-term and intermediate care facilities. Among other things, Christine’s experience includes protecting the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities and related conditions, and in helping those persons obtain healthcare services.

Christine has also served as Assistant Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services handling legal issues involving Medicaid eligibility, fraud, constitutional violations and regulatory analysis. Christine’s years of legal experience give her a unique understanding of the Medicaid process, as well as of Department regulations.
